Hokkaido has initiated a critical step toward potentially entering Japan’s integrated resort (IR) market by launching a competitive bidding process for a comprehensive feasibility study. The selected service provider will evaluate the viability, economic structure, and long-term sustainability of a large-scale casino-backed development. Running through January 2027, the study will include operator consultations, market analysis, and policy recommendations.
