Asus unveils Transformer Book Trio three-in-one computer

At the Computex trade show in Taipei, Taiwan on Monday, device manufacturer Asus unveiled a three-in-one computer - the Asus Transformer Book Trio - which can not only be used as a laptop and a tablet, but also as a desktop PC, if the users add an external monitor.

Asus Transformer Book Trio can run Windows 8 and Android simultaneously. Though the plugging of the tablet in the laptop dock gives the device an appearance similar to its previous Transformer devices, the Trio transforms into a full-fledged Windows 8 laptop due to the full hardware complement inside the dock.

Transparent mobile phone to come by end of 2013: Polytron Tech

A transparent mobile phone will be launched by the end of 2013, Taiwanese electronics firm Polytron Technologies has promised.

Polytron Technologies, which has already started marketing a transparent multi-touch, showed prototype that uses so-called Switchable Glass technology.

Switchable Glass is actually a conductive OLED that makes use of liquid crystal molecules to show images. When the prototype phone is off, the liquid crystal molecules line up to create a chalky composition, but once the prototype is switched on, they realign to create text, icons and other images.

IPad Refresh Due in First Quarter of 2010

According to sources the technology giant Apple is going with the schedule to launch the new version of the largely successful iPad just after one year of releasing its first version. According to the Digitimes magazine, some of the Taiwan based suppliers are expecting to begin their shipments for the new version of iPad at the start of next year.

The shipping schedule from the suppliers reflects that Apple would stick to its traditional product release cycle and it would release the new version of the iPad at the end of the first quarter of next year.

HTC takes wraps off Desire HD smartphone

Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer HTC has finally unveiled the much-anticipated Android-based HTC Desire HD smartphone on Wednesday in London.

The slab shaped Android OS 2.2 Froyo smartphone features a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, 8MB camera with two flash and 720p high-definition recording, digital compass, FM radio and 768MB of RAM and 1.5GB of ROM onboard, which can expanded to 4GB using microSD card.

HTC Desire receives new software update; white version coming soon

Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer HTC used its support website to announce the availability of a new software update for the HTC Desire, which brings a few minor changes to enhance the consumer experience.

The new update includes an Android operating system update patch, an enhanced Russian keyboard layout and improved multi-inbox G-mail support.

HTC recommended that owners of the HTC Desire should make use of Wi-Fi connection to download the new software update. The company also confirmed that the latest update would not erase any of the content on the device.
