Ford to invest $500M to make new engine at Ohio plant

American automobile giant Ford Motor Co on Friday announced its decision to spend $500 million to upgrade its Ohio-based engine plant to enable it to produce the new 2.7-liter six-cylinder EcoBoost engine.

The Lima Engine Plant, which currently makes 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter V6 engines for a range of Ford models including the Edge, will make the EcoBoost V6 engines that are turbocharged and make use of gasoline direct-injection to deliver the power of larger engines. The new engines will be used to the company's F-150 pickup trucks.

Ford shifts medium duty trucks’ production from Mexico to Avon Lake plant

American automobile giant Ford Motor Co. on Friday announced its new line of F-650 and F-750 medium duty trucks that will roll out from the company's Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, west of Cleveland.

Ford is shifting production of its medium duty trucks from Mexico to its Avon Lake plant as a result of its collective bargaining agreement made in 2011 with officials of Ohio Assembly Plant and United Auto Workers Union.

The auto giant is investing $168 million to shift production of the medium duty trucks from Mexico to the Avon Lake plant.

Ford announces in-car apps for parking, pizza and more

American auto maker Ford Motor Co. on Tuesday used the Consumer Electronics Show 2014 (CES 2014) in Las Vegas to announce some very exciting new apps for its in-dash Sync AppLink.

When the company's all-new Mustang will go on sale later this year, its new SYNC AppLink system will provide drivers easier access to new features from several of their favorite mobile apps on the move. Using the apps, drivers will be able to find space for parking and even order a pizza from Domino's while on the go.

Consumer Reports: Ford’s hybrid MPG claims exaggerated

It has been revealed by Consumer Reports (CR) magazine that its tests have shown that the `47 miles per gallon (MPG)' claims of Ford Motor's two latest hybrid models - the new Fusion Hybrid and C-Max hybrid - are exaggerated.

According to CR, tests have revealed that the average MPG of both the new Ford hybrid models falls in the mid-to-high 30s range; while Ford has been claiming that the vehicles are capable of giving 47mpg in the city as well as on the highway.

Ford unveils refreshed versions of its van fleet

At a prolific Thursday event in Amsterdam, Ford Motor announced its upgraded European line, which - among other vehicles - included revamped versions of its van fleet --- the new 2014 models of the Transit, Transit Connect commercial van and Transit Connect Wagon.

The newly-unveiled refreshed version of the Transit - which has been assembled at Ford's Claycomo factory - is a tall van styled like the Sprinter; and it will replace Ford's E-Series commercial and passenger van in the US from next year.
