Betting Analytics Firm Genius Sports signs data deal with Premier Lacrosse League
Sports betting analytics firm Genius Sports has confirmed that it has signed a deal with the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), becoming the official data and integrity partner of the professional lacrosse club.
The partnership deal, whose financial terms were not unveiled, represents the peak of the PLL’s aspiration to offer real-time betting markets data to improve in-game experience for betting lovers. The lacrosse club also confirmed that deal, expressing hope that that it will enhance exposure among betting fans.
Mark Locke, chief executive of Genius Sports, said they were very thrilled to be partnering with an innovative and forward-thinking lacrosse league like PLL, which represents one of the most popular as well as most respected sports in the USA.
In a newly released statement, Locke said, “The PLL is committed to delivering the ultimate digital fan experience, with sports wagering providing a new competitive outlet to interact with every play of every game. We’re thrilled to be partnering with such an innovative and forward-thinking league…”
In a separate statement, PLL said that the deal will allow them to provide better service with the fastest, accurate and most reliable data on the forthcoming PLL championship series as well as future events.
Many experts are of the view that lacrosse will likely never be able to rival basketball or football in the field of sports betting. But leagues have for sometime been increasingly showing enthusiasm for boosting the sport’s experience to bettors. A few months back, BetMGM had announced a deal with the National Lacrosse League (NLL), which a rival league to PLL.
While the NLL has a total of thirteen teams, Los Angeles-based PLL operates seven clubs. It is interesting to note here that betting presently is not allowed in California.
The deal has emerged at a crucial time for the PLL. Like other American athletic leagues, there has not been any action for the lacrosse association to offer bettors because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the lacrosse league is ready to stage twenty-game tournament, which is scheduled to take place from 25th of July for sixteen days. The tournament, which will be broadcasted on NBC, is expected to increase viewership and bring new bettors to the league.
