Philippines: Confiscation of Numerous Counterfeit Drugs

In line with the discovery of fake drugs from India, Pakistan and Singapore worth P25 million by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), a suspicious businessman has been arrested.

As the illegal medications were confiscated after surveillance by the NBI, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) identified the pharmaceutical products. The agency approved that the drugs are not registered in the Philippines and do not possess necessary labels for approval.

Cartoon Contest Offend Pakistan, Leads to Closure of Facebook in the Country

The social networking site Facebook has been closed for the entire month in Pakistan following the cartoonist contest organized on Facebook by Seattle cartoonist Molly Norris, on Thursday under topic "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day".

Irritated by this, Islamic lawyers association in Lahore, Pakistan, stated that this was an offensive and wicked act, as they won a legal injunction against the social-networking site. The brawl was initiated when Norris drew a cartoon that with domino, a spool of thread, and a handbag and stated that the cartoon depicted "real likeness of Mohammed”.
