Public extends support to Irish conjoined twins

An offer of $110,000 to pose in a British tabloid was refused by the parents of the twins.
The support was more after people came to know that the conjoined twins Hassan and Hussein are not going to pose for money. They have received a far greater level of aid from the Irish public.
Primark Continues to Record Strong Growth in Sales

Like-for-like sales, which excluded the impact of new stores, were mainly boosted by "exceptionally strong performance" across the company's 14 Spanish outlets. Overall, total sales were also quite strong, after the opening of as many as 5 new stores across UK, Germany, Portugal and Belgium.
Sinn Fein's Leader, Gerry Adams' Wife Fighting with Cancer

The couple was taken back when she was diagnosed with cancer a month ago.
The announcement was made at a party meeting where he was chosen as the representative to stand in the approaching Westminster elections.
He was thankful to the medical staff that looked after his wife Colette during, and post, her surgery.
"Now she is fine and recuperating after her operation last Thursday", he said.

Irish air traffic control row to affect passengers

A walk out by air traffic controllers between 2pm and 6pm will result into the cancellation of around 150 flights at Cork, Shannon and Dublin airports.

12% Rise Recorded in Traffic by Ryanair

As many as 4.9 million passengers were flown by the company over the month, as compared to the figure of 4.37 million passengers recorded for December 2008. Load factor, which is the measure of how full the airplanes are, jumped by 2 percentage points to 82%.
Ireland's Altobridge Purchases Product Line from ADC

The deal was announced on Thursday, and apart from the fact that about 70 of ADC's employees will be taken in by Altobridge, no other terms have been disclosed.

An Post Announces Plans of Axing 1,375 Jobs

As confirmed by the company, the cut will be applicable to all levels across all departments, including headquarters, collection, retail and processing, and although the terms have not been shard yet, the cuts will be on voluntary basis.
TalkTalk Announces Plans to Hire 60 Employees for Waterford Center

The center already boasts an employee base of 700 people.
As has been confirmed by the company, 50 of the total jobs will be full-time and the remaining 10 would be part-time. Set up in 1998, the company's Waterford center offers customer support for customers of TalkTak and AOL across UK.
NIB Announces Plans to Shut 25 Branches and Cut Quarter of its Current Staff

The parent bank, Danske Bank, however, will remain "committed to the Irish market", as has been confirmed by NIB. NIB and Northern Bank were acquired by Danske in 2005 in a 1.4 Billion Euros deal.
SWS Natural Resources Acquired by Bord Gais for Over 500 Million Euros

The deal has been designated as the third largest merger and acquisition for the year.
The development has been welcomed by the Anglo Irish Bank, a nationalized bank which owned 17% of the business, as well as a group of investors who had a 35% stake in it.
Ireland Records 1.8% Drop in Home Prices for October

The nation's current fall in property prices has been the worst in over 6 years.
Compared to the previous month, house prices fell by 1.8% in October to 228,347 Euros, the most since April. Compared to last year as well, the prices recorded a 13.9% drop.
