This week, Micron commenced with the shipping of what it claims is the "industry's fastest" solid-state drive. Sold under the Crucial brand name, the new Real SSD C300 drives employs the use of SATA 6Gb/2 and Open NAND Flash Interface 2.1 specifications, which allow the drive to deliver sequential read speeds of up-to 355Mb/s and sequential write speeds of up-to 215Mb/s.

The speeds offered are much faster than both Intel and OCZ's flagship products.

Honda's Mugen Limited to Run of 200 Cars

Honda has officially announced a new, limited-edition version of its popular Civic Type R. The launch of the new vehicle will coincide with the company's entry in the 2010 British Touring Car Championship.

The Civic Type R Mugen 200 boasts an exterior which is white, adorned with black mirrors, a look that will also be shared by the race team.

As has been suggested by the name, the special-edition car will be limited to a run of 200 vehicles.

British firm X2 Computing has taken the cover off its latest tablet PC, the iTablet. The new range of PCs has been designated as much "consumer friendly" by the company. How Apple would react to the company's naming of the device is yet to be seen.

iTablet is one of the most anticipated names for Apple's tablet device, which has now been released as the iPad.

As has been shared by X2, the iTablet range of devices will be equipped with 10.2 inch or 12.1 inch touchscreen or multi-touch screen displays, with a starting weight of a mere 1.18 kg.

Amazon launches MP3 store on phones through Android in the UK

Amazon's MP3 store for Android mobile phones is now available in the UK with DRM-free downloads for the users.

The Music store was announced as early as 2008, and is already available in the US.

The application from Amazon is available on Android Market for free and comes with access to ten million DRM-free songs. The song tracks could be downloaded via Wi-Fi or 3G.

The costs over that are about 69p per track and between £3 and £9 per album, generally, which is much lesser than the prices on the internet.

Samsung Mobile has launched its new 'Galaxy Portal' which is a smart phone powered by Android. The phone was earlier called Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica and has been renamed for the launch in the UK.

Most Google applications like Gmail, Google search, Google Maps, Google Talk and Youtube along with social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace can be accessed though the phone.

Among fun applications, is a Samsung Football Pub Finder which locates the nearest bars showing live football matches.

Vauxhall's new Meriva, featuring rear-hinged back doors along with a raft of new cabin features, will formally be launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010.

Vauxhall claimed that new car's rear-hinged back doors, which open at nearly 90 degrees, make access to rear seats much easier than conventional front-hinged doors.

The company also claimed that Meriva's engines would provide output of between 74 and 138bhp and that these engines would also achieve average fuel consumption.

Toshiba unveils 64-GB NAND flash memory

Toshiba has come up with a 64-GB NAND flash memory module with a claim that it would significantly increase smartphone storage. 

The Japanese electronics giant Toshiba claimed that its 64-GB NAND flash memory is the highest-capacity flash module available in the world.

The 64-GB NAND flash module is only 30 micrometers in thickness, and comprise of sixteen 32Gbit chips. Toshiba created it by using its 32-nanometer technology.
