United and Continental get The ‘Go-Ahead’ for Merger

The reason behind the delay, however, was the weather which prevented the employees from safely loading and unloading aircraft at a few points during the day.
Obama administrations new consumer-protection rule is said to intimidate the commercial airlines, for they fear the stiff fines that will have to pay for undue tarmac delays.
U.S. Antitrust Regulators Likely to Approve Union of Airlines

The Justice Department that has the power to support or decline the amalgamation is assessing the proposals. Though Congress has no direct involvement in the verdict, support from legislators can alleviate stress on the Justice Department. The union would form the globe's biggest airline by traffic.
United Airlines places order for 50 jets

The order consists of twenty-five new generation A350 aircrafts from Airbus and twenty-five Dreamliner 787 jets from Boeing.
According to analysts, a concerned development boost hopes that airline financing is returning to health.
John Tague, President of United Airlines, said, “We obviously thought the current environment was an opportunity for us.”
51 Year Old United Airlines Pilot Booked on Charges of Being Drunk
Submitted by Kulbir Sandhu on Wed, 11/11/2009 - 09:17Erwin Washington, a 51 year old United Airlines pilot, was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport on Monday on the suspicion of being drunk and has been charged with, according to the police, "being aviation staff performing an aviation function whilst exceeding the proscribed alcohol limit".
Currently out on bail, the Colorado based pilot is to appear on November 20 before Uxbridge magistrates in North-West London. United Airlines has assured that the matter would be completely investigated.
United Airlines pilot faces alcohol charges
Submitted by Sunil Kumar on Wed, 11/11/2009 - 06:14A United Airlines pilot has been charged after being arrested by the British police on Monday at Heathrow Airport for going over the alcohol limit for flying a plane.
The 51-year old Erwin Vermont Washington was due to fly from London's Heathrow airport to Chicago.
Air official said on Tuesday that Mr. Washington was pulled from the plane and arrested shortly before the takeoff after co-worker suspected him of being drunk.
