Twitter acquires Ubalo to accelerate its back-end

Ubalo calls its chief technology as "pods" that may contain code, data and any other files required to support a developer's app.
The startup works on simple ways of scaling code beyond single machines. Ubalo allows developers to write code for multiple machines without any additional overhead, with the help of same tools, languages and libraries that they typically used for single-computers apps.
Twitter's Vine starts supporting front-facing cameras

The recently released updated version of Twitter Vine (version 1.1) allows users to shoot short-videos using the front-facing camera. The updated version of the app, of course, also allows users to switch back and forth between the front-facing and rear-facing cameras in the same video.
Jack Dorsey, chief executive officer of the micro-blogging site, tweeted that Vines could now be recorded using the iOS devices' front-facing camera.
Twitter enables advertisers to target users at right moment

The new feature provides the ad companies with the option to place Promoted Tweets in users' timelines by targeting certain keywords/phrases of their choice.
While previously ad companies were just targeting Twitter users based on their general interests, the new feature allows them to show ads in which users are interested right now.

In arecent interview with 60 Minutes, Dorsey expressed his desire to move to the New York City and run the race for mayor.
It was not the first time that the Twitter co-founder expressed his desire to become New York City’s mayor. Previous in 2011, he had admitted to Vanity Fair that his goal falls in line with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian's call for "more geeks in Congress" and other public offices.
Google, Twitter demands more protection for user data

David Drummond, Google's chief legal officer, wrote in a blog post that the Internet firm would team up with many other tech firms to convince lawmakers to update the 1986 privacy protection law so that users' data could be protected.
It may be noted here that Congress observed "Data Privacy Day" on Monday.

Twitter suffers malware spam outbreak

The security researchers at Sophos have found that the majority of the links have a .RU domain name, and the malicious tweets ands URLs generally include the Twitter handle of a user. Most of the malicious tweets either read “It's you on photo?" or they simply say "It's about you?"
