Motorola Droid 2 exploded and injured a Texas man

A 30-year-old man from Texas received four stitches in his ear area after his Motorola Droid 2 smartphone exploded and left him with a bloody ear.

Aron Embry claimed that he had just finished a call on his Motorola Droid 2 handset when he heard a loud pop. He added that initially he did not feel any pain, but later he felt that something was dripping.

The screen of the handset was cracked and splattered with blood after the blast took place.

Motorola Droid expected to receive Android 2.2.1 update

The Motorola Droid, which is also known as the Milestone in the UK, is reportedly going to receive an official upgrade to Android 2.2.1, a minor update to Froyo.

The handset will get OTA update for Android 2.2.1 ahead of the Android 2.3 operating system (codenamed Gingerbread), which is expected to be available by the end of this year.

According to Droid-life, the Motorola Feedback Network notified its members that the company would test a new update on the original Droid handset ahead of its wider release.

Motorola Milestone 2 available in the UK

Motorola Milestone 2, the smartphone available in the US since August under the tag-name droid 2, has finally been made available in the UK.

The much-awaited handset can be pre-ordered at a number of retailers and carriers like that of Vodafone, O2 and T-Mobile. The SIM-free Motorola Milestone 2 costs £379.99, while Vodafone is offering the device for free on a will offer it on a two-year, £30 per month contract. O2 and T-Mobile are also offering the handset at the same contract price.

Despite Microsoft’s recently launched lawsuit against Motorola, the chief of Motorola Inc.'s mobile-phone business Sanjay Jha said he is open to develop devices running on Microsoft's imminent Windows Phone 7 operating system.

Microsoft Files Infringement Charges against Motorola

Microsoft Corp. is reported to have filed a lawsuit against handset giant, Motorola Inc. at the International Trade Commission and the US District Court in Washington.

The technology giant is claimed to have thrown infringement allegations on Motorola related to its nine patents in its Android smartphones.

Microsoft sues Motorola over Android-powered handsets

Leading software supplier Microsoft on Friday sued Motorola, claiming the handset manufacturer’s Android-powered handsets infringed several patents held by it.

The software giant said the Droid X and Droid 2 handsets, along with many others, infringed nine of software patents that cover functions which are vital for the smart phone user experience such as scheduling meetings, synchronizing email, contacts and calendars.

Microsoft’s move is also an indirect legal attack on Google, whose Android smartphone operating system has been thriving by leaps and bounds since 2008.

Motorola to release Flipout smartphone in Australia

The US-based handset manufacturer Motorola has confirmed that its latest Android smartphone, called the Flipout, would hit Australia next month.

The Flipout smartphone runs Android 2.1 operating system, and comes equipped with a 3-megapixel digital image sensor, a 600MHz Texas Instruments OMAP3410 processor and a 2.8-inch 256K-coloured TFT screen with a resolution of 240 by 320 pixels.

The company has equipped the handset with a side-ways rotational pivot that reveals the five-line QWERTY keyboard.

Motorola All Set to Update Milestone XT720 with Higher Speed

With the aim of making the speed of Smartphones even faster, mobile phone maker Motorola is soon going to launch an update for its latest Milestone XT720, which is a special series of Motorola MOTOROI.

The speed on the Milestone will be increased to 720MHz from 550MHz. The objective of increasing the speed is to make Milestone XT720 faster and make the running even smoother. The smartphone will also be updated with some new features including DLNA compatibility.

New Droid 2 ad mocks the iPhone

The latest Droid 2 ad mocks the iPhone 4, claims a recent report.

Motorola's latest ad that promotes the Droid 2, has mocked the Apple release iPhone which features with a tagline "there's an app for that" ad lineup.

The Droid 2 ad comes with simple yet punching tagline that says, "Flash websites? There's a phone for that."
