Ford’s investment in Ohio engine facility expected to boost local economy

New jobs at Ford's Lima Engine Plant will provide a major boost to the community, Vice President of the United Auto Workers (UAW) Jimmy Settles said.

Automobile giant Ford on Friday announced its plans to spend $500 million to upgrade its Ohio-based Lima engine manufacturing facility to enable to produce the new 2.7-liter 6-cylinder EcoBoost engine. The planned investment will generate nearly 300 new jobs at the plant, which already employs nearly 800 people.

Focus beats Corolla to become world’s top-selling car: Ford

American auto giant Ford on Wednesday claimed that one of its models has become the world's top-selling car, beating rival manufacturer Toyota's widely acclaimed car Corolla.

Citing registration data compiled by research firm R. L. Polk & Co., Ford said that its Focus car sold a total of 589,709 units between start of January and end of June across the globe. The figure represents an increase of 20 per cent in sales of Focus from the corresponding six-month period of last year.

Ford and Chrysler to Recall Vehicles

Due to safety concerns, Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC are willingly recalling more than 55,800 vehicles.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Chrysler is recalling 22,118 of its 2010 Dodge Nitro, Dodge Ram, Jeep liberty and Jeep Wrangler models over latent faulty brake tubes. The tubes could direct to the loss of liquid break.
