Volkswagen to invest $7 billion in North America in 5 years

Luxury car manufacturer Volkswagen AG has announced its decision to invest $7 billion in North America over a period of next five years, a move that basically aims at boosting the company's growth in the region.

Martin Winterkorn, chief executive officer of Volkswagen, announced that the company intended to use the money to set up a new manufacturing facility in the region. However, a location for the new facility has yet to be selected.

Tesla to provide revamped home charger wall adapters

Tesla Motors Inc. on Friday announced that it would provide owners of its electric cars with revamped home charger wall adapters with thermal fuses.

The manufacturer of electric cars announced the revamped home charger wall adapters after reports that some wall sockets melted or smoked during charging.

In December last year, the company released an over-the-air software update to addressed potential overheating of the socket. The company said that it believed that the update fully addressed the problem, and added that the new wall adapter was designed to provide additional protection.

Ford announces in-car apps for parking, pizza and more

American auto maker Ford Motor Co. on Tuesday used the Consumer Electronics Show 2014 (CES 2014) in Las Vegas to announce some very exciting new apps for its in-dash Sync AppLink.

When the company's all-new Mustang will go on sale later this year, its new SYNC AppLink system will provide drivers easier access to new features from several of their favorite mobile apps on the move. Using the apps, drivers will be able to find space for parking and even order a pizza from Domino's while on the go.

BMW unveils app for Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch

Luxury car maker BMW used the Consumer Electronics Show 2014 in Las Vegas to unveil an app for Samsung's smartwatch Galaxy Gear.

BMW announced that its environment-friendly electric car i3 will feature a special app for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

Equipped with the iRemote App, the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will allows BMW i3 drivers to instantly check important vehicle functions, such as remaining range, without taking out a smartphone or opening an app.

Jeep Australia launches Wrangler ‘Dragon Edition’

Jeep Australia has just launched a second special edition of its widely acclaimed iconic off-road four-wheel-drive stalwart Wrangler.

The new Dragon Edition is based on the Wrangler Unlimited Overland four-door, but some noticeable improvements and additions allow it to look unique. The new special edition adds 18-inch wheels, bronze highlights to the front-end garnishes, badges and the Mopar fuel door bolts.

Volvo V60 Polestar to hit UK in June next year

The newly unveiled 345bhp Volvo V60 Polestar car will be available in the UK in June next year, the luxury carmaker has confirmed.

Volvo has unveiled two new high-performance Polestar models, the Volvo V60 Polestar and S60 Polestar. While the company confirmed the V60 Polestar for the UK launch, no such confirmation was given for the S60. The Polestar-tweaked S60 will initially be exclusive to North America, Sweden, Switzerland, Japan and The Netherlands.
