Intel joins hands with China's Baidu to set up innovation lab

Intel Corporation has partnered with Chinese search engine Baidu to set up a new joint innovation lab for developing mobile apps for China’s fast-expanding mobile Internet market

The innovation lab is part of a deal signed by the two sides on Thursday this week.

The deal will provide Chinese developers with access to Intel technologies, including personal computers, tablets, and mobile phones, to test & port software for various Baidu and Intel platforms.

Virgin Mobile launches campaign to steal T-Mobile customer away

In an effort to steal customers away from rival mobile phone carrier T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile is offering a credit of $100 to any T-Mobile customer who will leave T-Mobile to join Virgin.

Virgin Mobile is running a marketing campaign titled "Retrain Your Brain" that is promising to ensure savings of up to $334 to customers in two years.

AT&T to have exclusive rights to sell 64GB HTC One

Mobile phone carrier AT&T has posted details about the upcoming 64GB version of the HTC One smartphone, underlining that it would have the exclusive rights to sell the phone in the US.

AT&T added that it would also offer the phone in both colors - the Glacier Silver and the Stealth Black. The company also showed off two accessories, HTC Double Flip Case and the Morphie Juice Pack, which will be selling alongside the smartphone. For heavy users, there will be an extended battery pack as well.

FTC charges 29 marketers with sending millions of spam texts

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has charged 29 individuals and corporations with sending millions of spam texts.

The messages, which promised prizes like free gift cards worth up to $1,000 form retailers like Wal-mart and Best Buy, were sent to random phone numbers.

In exchange for the gift cards, consumers were tricked into exposing their personal information, including their credit card credentials. The information gathered from the targeted customers would be ultimately sold to third-party companies.

US Cellular to expand its LTE coverage to 87% of customers by 2013's end

U. S. Cellular has announced its plans to expand its LTE coverage from current 61 per cent to 87 per cent of its customer base in the country by the end of 2013.

The company said that its LTE network will cover more than 3,800 additional cities and towns across the U. S. The company's super fast LTE services will be made available in select cities in California, Nebraska and Kansas, as well as the services will be expanded to include many more cities like Iowa, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, Maine, Texas Virginia and West Virginia.

Vodafone suffers worst sales slump in three years

Mobile phone giant Vodafone suffered a plunge of 5.2 per cent in its UK revenue to just over £1.2 billion in the final quarter of last year, as sales slipped to lowest level in three years.

Vodafone said it gained 253,000 new contract customers in the final three months of 2012 in the UK, but also suffered the loss of 23,000 pay-as-you-go users during the same three months. The company has now around 19.5 million customers in the UK.
