Microsoft co-founder donates a fortune to charity

Paul Allen, Co-founder of Microsoft has claimed to donate a major chunk of his $13.5 billion fortune to charity.

Allen is the world's 37th richest man, was earlier diagnosed and treated for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and stated that he aimed to survive through his philanthropy that will continue after his death.

He added: "I've planned for many years now that the majority of my estate will be left to philanthropy to continue the work of the foundation and fund non-profit scientific research."

This proclamation seems to follow soon after former Microsoft CEO and co-founder Bill Gates and investment tycoon Warren Buffet plans to donate at least half of their wealth in the name of charity.

Allen has already donated approximately $1 billion and claims that his philanthropy will continue to be ushered in the years to come and at the same time will offer new platforms to make a difference in the lives of future generations. The donation amount will take care of his own Allen Foundation and will pump in money for "game-changing" scientific research projects.
