According to a survey report, a single person needs an income of at least 14,400 Euros in this current year for a standard living in the UK. The report also suggests, a couple with two children need at least 29,200 Euros for a minimum standard living.
These figures are showing the growing gap between the minimum income standard and the National minimum wage.
The charity, Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) who has done the survey claimed that this was due to increasing inflation for necessities.
The chief executive of JRF, Julia Unwin has said that the research suggests what the normal members of the public think is needed, not only to live but also to take part in the society. This report would really help the new govt. to develop policies to tackle with the poverty.
This JRF report is an initiative to pump up the issue of the level of relative poverty of UK beyond the official poverty limit of 60% of average income.
The inflation is calculated by a typical basket of goods. Before this report, JRF had gathered information about poverty and made a report in the year, 2008.
