UK supermarkets enter price-war

UK’s supermarket chains such as Tesco and Asda have triggered a massive price war by promising discounts worth millions of pounds this Christmas.

Asda has predicted that this Christmas would see the most cut-throat competition in a decade.

The prices of consumer goods such as frozen meat, video games consoles, and winter clothes have been slashed to their lowest by supermarket chains.

Tesco, promised £250 million of price cuts and Asda retaliated by announcing £150 million of consumer savings.

Speaking on the topic, retail analyst Maureen Hinton said, “Competition is intense this year. There have been quite a few high street casualties and the big supermarkets have stepped in to fill the gap.”

Apart from Tesco and Asda, other retailers such as Morrisons and Sainsbury are also spending millions on advertising to allure more customers.
