Today, Mrs. Renu Phulia, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ambala together with Civil Surgeon, Dr. Narender Chaudhary, Principal Medical Officer, Dr. Major G. Kumar, SDM Barara, Mr. Prem Chand, Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department, Mr. S. K. Bhatia and some more officials visited the village Samlehri of district Ambala, where two girls, Disha and Priyanka have succumbed to death due to an inexplicable ailment and some other persons together with kids were debilitated with this sickness.
Puffiness on legs and mouth and pain in the whole body are the signs of this strange disease.
On the worries expressed by some villagers that infected water may be the reason behind the disease, the officials of the Public Health Engineering Department without delay took samples of the water and sent them off to the laboratory for examination.
The officers promised the villagers that after investigation, severe action would be undertaken against the person(s) found culpable.
Mr. S. K. Bhatia, Executive Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department said that he himself had used the water of the village tube well and to the best of his information the water was apt for consumption.
He added that drinking water pipes of the village had also been got examined and henceforth more preventative measures would be implemented with the intention that people of the village may not experience any difficulty because of seepages in the pipes, etc.
