In a rarest of rare cases, a 62-year-old Bulgarian woman became a mother by giving birth to twins.
As reported by the daily 24 Hours, Krasimira Dimitrova became Bulgaria’s oldest first-time mother at 62.
The pregnancy of the woman was the result of an embryo transfer. She gave birth by caesarian section to twin baby girls, each of them weighing less than one kilogram.
Breaking the myth that pregnancy is not possible after a certain age, Krasimira Dimitrova, a psychiatrist from the northern city of Ruse told the newspaper in an interview,” 'Age was not an obstacle for me... I so much wanted to have children”.
Ms. Dimitrova, who is soon to be retired, said that became more determined to become pregnant after the authorities refused to let her adopt a child citing the reason of her age.
She further says that the two baby girls have been named Mary and Jacqueline.
