Skype chief executive Josh Silverman has said that they were mulling over plans to introduce third-party advertisements keep its VoIP service free of charge.
The addition of third-party add to the popular software will fetch additional income for the company.
Speaking on the topic, Mr. Silverman said, “It's challenging to get right as the way people use is Skype is very personal but we think our users expect us to do it so we can continue to support free.”
Currently, people can make Skype to Skype calls for free, however they have to purchase phone credit from the company to dial to wireless and landline phones.
Most probably, users of the service will not mind if third-party advertisements are added to Skype because the concept third-party ads is not new to internet users.
Skype was established in 2003 in Luxembourg.
