Humax’s Freeview HD set-top boxes to offer Sky Player

British Sky Broadcasting Plc has hit a deal with Humax that will allow Humax’s HD-FOX T2 Freeview HD receiver to offer access to Sky Player.

Sky's IPTV service offers access to range of live TV channels such as Sky 1 and Sky Sports 1 in addition to a library of video-on-demand content.

Sky TV’s existing customers will be able to access the service on Humax’s set-top boxes dependent on their Sky product subscriptions. However, non-Sky customers will have to sign up to monthly subscription packages.

Commenting on the deal, Sky said, "In providing both new and existing customers with more choice and control over how they access Sky content, we continue to harness secure and high-quality distribution platforms like Humax.”

Apart from Humax’s set-top boxes, Sky customers will be able to watch the Sky Player through set-top boxes from Fetch TV and 3view. Cello is also expected to offer Sky Player from this summer.
