British players spend £195m on MMOs in 2009

Brits spent around 195 million pounds on massive multiplayer online games during last year, figures from Today's Gamers MMO Focus Report revealed.

As per the report, British players spend an average 10.50 pounds per month on MMOs. This is despite the fact that only 38 per cent of the British players pay to play MMO games, while the rest of the players opt for free online games.

Player from Germany and France spent 165 pounds and 145 pounds respectively in 2009.

But, the US surpassed all these countries, where players spent 2.55 billion pounds during the same period.

The worldwide players spent a total of 3 billion pounds on MMOs.

The report also stated that the World of Warcraft was the most popular MMO in Britain, followed by Runescape and Club Penguin.
