A fresh study conducted by Consumer Focus has said that the Government must boost its actions to make poorer UK citizens to know how the internet can generate money for them.
The consumer watchdog prepared a report entitled Broadband Minded, in which it recommended the promotion of money-making sites such as eBay.
The report found that online savings were of limited relevance to lower income group as many of them lacked debit cards or bank accounts to enjoy the benefits.
The consumer watchdog found that people with earnings of less than £11,500 a year are not motivated to get home internet.
As per Consumer Focus, just 29 per cent of households with earnings of less than £11,500 a year have access to net at home.
In addition, Consumer Focus said that services such as internet TV and video-on-demand would likely to be the best way to motivate consumers.
It may be noted here that low-income households are missing out on savings of up to £560 a year, which can be achieved via shopping and paying bills online.
The Government hopes to 7.5 million more people using the internet in the coming four years. It is particularly targeting the poor and the elderly.
