BA launches luxury service to New York; environmentalists opposes
British Airways

British Airways is going to launch a luxury, all-business class transatlantic service from London City to New York.

With a view to make the most out of the London executive market, British Airways will operate two flights daily from London City to New York offering 32 seats in Airbus A318 aircraft.

The luxury service on flight includes flat beds plus newest technology such as use of mobiles and laptops to send and receive messages and net-surfing.

But, the current move of the carrier has brought it under attack from environmental groups, which blamed the carrier of hypocrisy because its CEO Willie Walsh pledged recently to hack emissions in the airline industry to protect the environment.

Richard Dyer, a campaigner for the Friends of the Earth, said, "Aviation causes harmful emissions that contribute to climate change - we should be curbing the growth in flying, not laying on new flights."
