British Airways passengers will be able to have a seat of their choice on flight but the service is not free as the carrier will charge up to £60 for reserving desired seat.

The new service will satisfy those who want to sit together on flight and anyone with a preference for window, aisle or emergency-exit seat.

The carrier said in a statement, "British Airways is launching a new service to give customers more control over their seating options."

To choose a seat in an economy class, a customer will have to pay £ 10.

The carrier will charge £20 for a long-haul economy class, while £60 will be charged for business class long-haul voyages.

A seat in an emergency exit row will cost an additional £50.

At present, British Airways lets its passengers to reserve seats in the 24 hours ahead of departure, but from 7 October those willing to pay will be able to secure their desired seat on flight at the time of making a booking.

In addition, British Airways will charge £1 for onboard toilets.
