A three year old girl has surprised her parents and medical officials after battling off a brain tumor, which could not be operated upon, all by herself.
The girl, Liberty Rose Finn had undergone 18 months of intense chemotherapy in order to shrink a growth which was slowly making her blind. The treatment, however, only ended up shrinking the tumor that was wrapped around the child's optic nerve by about 50%.
Despite this, nine months after the chemotherapy stopped, a brain scan that was taken last week revealed that the tumor had almost disappeared.
"We were speechless and couldn't believe it. She is one in a million. Her own body fought it", said Mum Dawn, 32, of Burton, Staffs.
Liberty had developed the problem about 6 weeks after she and her sister Destiny Mai were born in 2006.
"Tumors never disappear, they just get smaller. It's a mystery", said Roz Osborne of the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust.
