Chrysler recalls vehicles over brake issue

Chrysler Group LLC said it would recall 24,177 vehicles due to a potential defect in brake-system which could lead to brake-failure.

The recall applies to 2010 models of the Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Nitro, Jeep Commander, Dodge Avenger, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Liberty and 2009-2010 models of Dodge Ram trucks.

The auto giant announced the recall in a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Chrysler Group said that some of the vehicles were manufactured with an improperly formed or missing part in the braking system, which could lead to brake-failure without warning and cause a crash.

Chrysler further added that it would replace defective or missing clips free of cost.

Chrysler Group suffered a year-on-year decline of 36 per cent in US sales during 2009.
