Volvo V60 Polestar to hit UK in June next year

The newly unveiled 345bhp Volvo V60 Polestar car will be available in the UK in June next year, the luxury carmaker has confirmed.

Volvo has unveiled two new high-performance Polestar models, the Volvo V60 Polestar and S60 Polestar. While the company confirmed the V60 Polestar for the UK launch, no such confirmation was given for the S60. The Polestar-tweaked S60 will initially be exclusive to North America, Sweden, Switzerland, Japan and The Netherlands.

Both, the Volvo V60 Polestar and S60 Polestar, draw power from a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine, and two new twin-scroll turbos and a new intercooler. It may be noted here that the Volvo S60 Polestar Concept car, which was announced in June last year, had 500bhp.

The combination of Haldex all-wheel drive arrangement and 6-speed paddle shift automatic gearbox allows the new models to sprint from zero to 62 miles per hour (mph) in just 4.9 seconds, to a top speed of 155mph.

The new cars also boast enhanced chassis rigidity, stronger springs, Ohlins performance shock absorbers, and 20-inch Polestar alloy wheels. All these improvements provide notable visual differences over the standard models.

Unveiling the cars, Polestar CEO Christian Dahl said, "We are all very excited and proud over our launch of two new cars as yet another step towards a range of Polestar Engineered Volvo cars available for people like us around the world."

Prices are yet to be announced, but automobile experts have predicted the cars to cost around £40,000.
