According to the most detailed sales figures released by the online retail biggie Amazon, the sales of the company's Kindle brand of e-book readers and tablets is currently topping 1 million units per week.
In a recent statement, Seattle-based Amazon said that the last three weeks in succession have witnessed consumers purchasing nearly 1 million units of the Kindle line-up of products.
Revealing that the company's 11-weeks-old $199-priced Kindle Fire tablet has been its best-selling product ever since its introduction, Amazon said that the last three weeks have seen an in crease in the sales of Kindle Fire, week over week.
Terming the Kindle Fire as "the most successful product" that has ever been launched by Amazon, the Amazon Kindle VP Dave Limp said that the response to the tablet has been so noteworthy that millions of its units have already been sold. As a result, the device has emerged as the bestselling product across all of Amazon for 11 straight weeks; and millions of more units are being manufactured to meet the high demand.
Meanwhile, about Amazon's recent revelation of the figures pertaining to its Kindle line-up of devices, Wedge Partners' analyst Brian Blair said that since Amazon has, thus far, refrained from divulging its sales numbers, it is worth noting that the company has now felt that they "need to disclose metrics."
About Amazon's strategy to disclose the sales figures, Blair said that it is a way to show their strength against Apple, a way to say "'we're a player, and we're going to start letting you know'."
