Rep. Darrell decides to probe into the move of FCC Commissioner Meredith Attwell

Rep. Darrell Issa has decided that the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is going to probe into the move of FCC Commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker where he offered job to a top government official at Comcast/NBC Universal.

The committee that Issa is heading is a key investigative body of Congress and that shows that the matter has taken up bigger proportions that it had done earlier.

The decision was mentioned in a letter sent to FCC Chairman, Julius Genachowski where Issa had noted that Baker's departure has led to rising of many questions. This has happened due to the fact that Baker was recently voted and allowed to buy majority stake in NBC. Issa also said that based on the very statement given by Baker it does not seem that he has violated any kind of legal or ethical obligation in accepting a position with Comcast.

Yet, since a very short period of time had passed since merger between Comcast and NBC took place, it is obvious that public trust on the integrity of the whole process is going to be skeptical.
