Twitter Celebrates Its 5th Birthday

It’s now time to celebrate twitter’s 5th birthday, one of the most popular and talked-about Internet companies all over.

On the occasion, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone wrote in a blog post that Twitter is just five years old and the Twitter users are now easily sending more than 140 million 140-characters-or-fewer tweets a day adding up to a billion Tweets every eight days. Also the personality added in his statement that Twitter is adding close to 500,000 accounts every day.

Twitter is very well serving as a lifeline in the recent natural disasters that rocked Japan as it served during the massive earth quakes in Chili as well as Haiti last year.

Regarding the company, Rob Enderle, an analyst with the Enderle Group said that "In terms of visibility and impact, Twitter has been very impressive. It's been tied to revolutions and elections. And it's changed the way a relatively large number of people communicate... It's a new idea: communicating one to many."

Twitter has really served us all very well in its first five years and will definitely serve with some new inventions in the next five. However, personalities like Olds and Enderle said that there is a bit need for Twitter to expand its services so that they can fend off Facebook or the next round of up-and-comers in the social networking world.

So, wait and watch some new ideas and inventions in your lovely social networking site Twitter.
