Scarborough has planned a number of events for Remembrance Day in honour all those who lost their lives in Canada's wars.
The events begin this Sunday, 7th November with air force veterans of the 408/437 Toronto York Wing and air cadets participating an indoor Remembrance Day parade and ceremony held at Bridlewood Mall at Finch and Warden avenues.
The programme will begin at 10:30 a. m. at a cenotaph on the lower level of the mall.
Veterans will also gather at the Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Drive for 2:00 p. m. ceremony, at which the Girl Guides and the Toronto Police Association Male Chorus will also be adding their voices to.
On Remembrance Day itself falling on Thursday, the Scarborough Zone of the Royal Canadian Legion will host a programme at the Scarborough Cenotaph beginning 11:00 a. m. The Cenotaph is a local landmark located on the green space between Kingston Road and the eastern end of Danforth Avenue.
Toronto Zoo will also be observing Remembrance Day, its 25th time, with a programme at its Waterside Theatre that is just near the zoo entrance, and which will begin just before 11:00 a. m.
The zoo on Meadowvale Road is providing free admission for all those who arrive before the ceremony begins.
The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 258 in Highland Creek located at 45 Lawson Rd., will be hosting a Remembrance Day service on 11th November at 1:00 p. m. at the cenotaph in front of the building.
