A therapy assistant at Broadmoor Hospital was arrested on Friday, based on suspicions that she was having a sexual relationship with a mentally disordered person. Sources differ on whether she was actually having sex with two inmates, one being a paedophile and the other a child rapist.
The alleged incidents took place over the summer; the 29-year old woman resigned after having been suspended. She was an unqualified member of staff and not a nurse.
One month ago, Broadmoor Hospital, which is in Crowthorne, Berks, saw one of its nurses given a suspended prison sentence after she admitted to having had a sexual relationship with a patient.
The staff at the top-security hospital has been warned about inappropriate behaviour with patients. A spokeswoman for West London Mental Health NHS Trust, of which Broadmoor Hospital is a part, stated: “Where there is any question that patients and staff are involved in or subject to inappropriate behaviours, prompt action is taken under the hospital’s disciplinary procedure and, where necessary, the hospital offers full support to the police in any enquiries or action which may follow.”
An insider at Broadmoor Hospital has described the two accusations as devastating.
The recently arrested therapist was released on bail.
