Women Get a Viagra

The problem of sexual dysfunction among women might be history, if trials conducted by Bayer Pharmaceuticals and Endoceutics come out to be successful. The Company, Bayer Pharmaceuticals have already pumped in $300million into the compound. Endoceutics claims it to be the answer to sexual dysfunction in women.

The name of the compound has currently been named as Vaginorm and would help in treating vaginal dryness and thinning of the vagina. The compound is undergoing phase 3 trials among 1500 women from Canada and the U. S. Bayer Pharmaceutical would be bearing the cost of the trials.

Even though, the President of Endoceutics has claimed Vaginorm to be a “Viagra for women”, he has stated that the medicine would not come in the form of a tablet. He also added that the reason for sexual dysfunction among women is different from men. So, the method of treatment is also different.

Vaginorm would be inserted in the vagina, where it would liquefy immediately to treat vaginal dryness and would also help in increasing lubrication. The compound would help in bringing back DHEA levels that help in sexual functions of the female genital organ.

Vaginorm, if successful, would help 75% women who are suffering from post-menopausal problems and would also benefit 360 million women around the world. It is observed that there are 4-5 million women in Canada, who would benefit from the under trial drug.
