Nokia fans anticipating the Symbian-based Nokia N8 smartphone will have to wait more as the release date for the handset has been pushed further to the third week of October.

Gadget Venue reported that online retailer Mobiles.co.uk had listed the N8 with a release date of the third week in October. It may be noted here that Nokia earlier this month had announced the smartphone would hit the UK at the end of September.

Mobiles.co.uk is offering the smartphone on pre-order with network providers O2 and Vodafone.

The Nokia N8 smartphone comes equipped with a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 640x360 pixels, a 12-megapixel camera, 16GB of built in storage, a microSD card slot that can accept up to 32GB cards. It is Nokia’s first phone to run Symbian 3 operating system.

The powerful photo snapper is capable of recording high-definition video in 720p and comes with a Carl Zeiss lens and a Xenon flash.

The Nokia N8 also allows users to access popular social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. It is capable to bring updates from social networking sites direct to the handset’s home screen.

The phone will be available at tariffs, ranging from £10 per month to £55 per month. The handset will be available for free for as little as £25 per month from Vodafone.
