According to a report, Sunshine Hospital patients were found to be least pleased with the care being offered to them. The Your Hospitals report was unveiled last week, which assessed the performance of Victorian hospitals over a six-month duration, between January and June this year.
It was seen that out of the 27 hospitals that were surveyed, Sunshine came at the bottom. Only 67.3% patients were content with the treatment that was offered to them.
The hospital treated less number of patients compared to the previous year, but was still unsuccessful in meeting four out of nine yardsticks that were set by the State Government.
Though, the hospital got good marks in treating the maximum emergency victims, it was observed that only 61% of non-hospitalised patients in the Emergency Department were examined within four hours. This is way short of the Government's target of 80%. Also, 44% of the emergency victims were not given a bed within the eight-hour time period.
Shadow Health Minister, David Davis said that the hospital had been ignored for over 11 years.
He said, "This latest report confirms Sunshine Hospital is failing under Labor's mismanagement".
The State Opposition has critcised the findings of the report, asserting that the hospital was not managed properly by the Government.
