BBC re-commissions Doctor Who games

The BBC has re-commissioned Doctor Who: The Adventure Games, which will be available to PC and Mac users for free.

The first three episodes of the adventure games series has proved to be very successful, with 1.6 million downloads.

Simon Nelson, BBC Vision's head of multiplatform, said that they would be ‘daft’ if they didn’t commission another season, given the success initial episodes. Commenting on the move, Mr. Nelson added, “We've set new standards in audience participation and we think we've really helped push the concept of families actively playing together. I can’t wait to see what the team does next."

A fourth title in the first series will be released by the end of this year. Doctor Who scriptwriters have penned the adventurous games, while the Sheffield-based Sumo Digital studio has developed the games.

In the games, Doctor Who and Amy Pond can be seen fighting the Daleks and the Cybermen.
