Study claims Flu shots associated with lower risk of heart attack

A study report by the British researchers says that annual flu shots may be able to protect the human body against heart attacks. As per the study report the risk of heart attacks decreased down by 19% for the people who had a vaccination in last year.

The study was carried out with the medical records of more than 78,000 people in the UK and almost 16,000 of them were heart patients. This report has been criticized so much by the US experts but the report shows 8500 heart patients were benefited from the vaccination in the UK.

Meanwhile the associate director at Lenox Hill Hospital of New York, Dr. Krik Garratt said the report found that 19% of the heart attack patients were vaccinated not that 19% heart attack patients were benefited from vaccination.

He has said if a flu shot is capable of reducing the heart attack by 19% it should have been noticed earlier. Most of the health experts in the US agreed to Dr. Garratt and criticized the findings of the UK study. On the other hand the UK researchers stood on the point they had said and said the reaction from the US experts were disappointing.
