Dengue Situation Alarming in Philippines, Yet Nothing to Panic About
Though, the number of reported dengue cases has been on an alarmingly steady rise, yet according to the authorities responsible, there was no need to sound the sirens as things were under control.
The Department of Health, Philippines has asked people not to worry and to maintain hygiene as the dengue outbreak won’t reach epidemic proportions and would be kept in control. The cases of dengue that have been reported have been from a particular place, and not all over the Country of Philippines. Quezon City is the only place, where the dengue cases have been reported.
Dr. Eric Tayag, Director, National Epidemiology Centre, Department of Health also vouched for the public not to panic and to maintain calm, as there was no reason to panic and the situation had not reached dangerous proportions and everything was well under the control of the Government.
He further announced that the number of fatalities occurring due to dengue will be maintained below 1%. It has to, though, be noticed that the number of deaths due to dengue this year have been 501 in Philippines.
Mr. Tayag also advised people against the use of insecticides and anti mosquito lotion, as they can cause skin allergies and also give rise to breathing problems.
