In order to empower a provincial health network, the plan of spreading the Disney magic was ludicrous for Premier Dalton McGuinty.
When it was discovered by the Liberals that Erie St. Clair, Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) had hired two Disney consultants, they immediately came into the action.
The consultants were hired and were offered a $9,500 keynote address at their forthcoming September 27 conference, which will take place at Caesars Windsor hotel and convention centre
According to a source of the Government, this is not an appropriate use of funds that are paid by the taxpayers. Queens’s Park called the southern Ontario network and recommended them to scrap the address last week. On Tuesday, the message was again delivered to them.
After it was revealed by the provincial ombudsman that one of the 14 bodies of LHINs held secret meetings to discuss about hospital restructuring and emergency room closures, the network came under the intense scrutiny this month.
According to the opposition leaders, current LHIN system should be eliminated. The LHINs, which was established by the former Health Minister, George Smitherman, employ about 300 people.
The network was found to make community-based decisions that how $21.5 billion should be spent in health care Dollars.
“This isn’t about Mickey Mouse. Disney is one of the most successful corporations in the world”, said Ron Sheppard, a Spokesperson for the network.
