J&J Recalls Contact Lenses after Users Complain of Irritation

It seems that Johnson & Johnson’s image is on its way to get tattered, since it has stepped into the limelight again, but for the wrong reason, as a batch of firm’s contact lenses in many nations, which also includes the ones sent in Hong Kong and Macao, have been recalled after users complained of uneasiness and eye irritation.

This is a voluntary recall that the firm initiated on Thursday in nations, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and Macao, after a few ‘1-Day Acuvue TruEye’, that is manufactured in Ireland’s J&J unit, were reported that, in Japan, in the previous month the lenses have caused an odd stinging feeling, with eyes turning red and experiencing a feeling of irritation.

Almost 4,000 boxes of the lenses are being recalled whilst an inquiry carried out by the firm has given confirmation that in one proportion of the lens rinsing procedure, concerning a definite manufacturing line, had affected a few lots of the lenses.

Up to now, there have been no negative events that have taken place from the usage of lenses in Hong Kong and Macao.

No other brand had been involved in the recall episode and that non-effected lots of lenses were still being sold in Hong Kong under the brand, Acuvue TruEye.
