Pre-Sales of Dell’s Streak Begin August 12

The pre-sales of Dell’s tablet, Streak, will commence from 12 August, fulfilling it’s much awaited expedition into the Android Tablet market. This device will be different from the others in the mushrooming tablet PC market, by two major features: Google Android OS, and 5-inch touch-screen. The general availability of the device will begin a day after this.

Dell’s Streak will provide special facilities like its capacity to Web-surf, exhibiting multimedia and to make voice calls. Other special traits of this tablet include a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, built-in Wi-Fi capability and 3G connectivity, user-accessibly microSD expandable memory up to 32GB, and a 5-megapixel camera with dual LED flash.

As informed by the Company, the retail price of Streak tablet will be $299.99 with a two-year AT&T contract, and $549.99 would have to be shelled for the unlocked. This tablet would ship with Android 1.6 as the stock Android version, but it would be updated with a 2.2 version by the end of this year, as promised by Dell.

This device will be positioned more as a mobile entertainment, navigation and social-connectivity tool. In addition, Michael Dell, CEO of Dell, ensured that in United Kingdom, the release of Streak will experienced a very good response.

With this, he also plans much more for its users. He said, “There has to be servers and storage to support all the data that is being pulled by users, and this is an exciting opportunity for us”.
