The posting of photos of a sample tablet by Best Buy's Chief Technology Officer, Robert Stephens on his Twitter feed has led to the spreading of a rumor that Best Buy is on the verge of manufacturing its own branded tablet computer.
The only information about the Best Buy tablet can be derived from the photos that are posted by Stephen. He may make use of Android as an OS, as per his tweet. The Best Buy tablet is similar to the Hewlett-Packard Slate, as far as the physical similarities are concerned, shared The New York Times.
Rocketfish makes rebranded products, for instance AV cables, computer parts, and GPS chargers. These products are only cheaper substitutes to name brand accessories and are not at par in quality. Best Buy sold many in-house brands like Geek Squad, Insignia, Init, and Dynex. There is a cut throat competition in the market where cheap alternatives are sold, which forced Best Buy to push its in-house has branded items recently.
According to Investopedia, “Best Buy is competing with Wal-Mart and Amazon by developing better quality products using customer feedback and analyzing consumers' needs and wants”.
It is yet to be seen whether the Best Buy tablet suffers the same fate as the much-hyped JooJoo tablet.
